Think it may be what's referred to as "Push MD" where on the up bounce of the squeeze the edge of the die grsbbed s portion of the strike and pulled it up, piling it upon retraction of the hammer die. It is nothing more than Machine Doubling, possibly even a "stutter strike" being that is one of the higher points of relief on the coin. We shall see. What do I win if I'm right?

The EPU is incuse. When a doubled die happens on them these devices get smaller in size. This looks like MD during the strike. Similar to what happens on the ATB Quarters: Because the devices are raised on the die, the slightest MD will alter these devices that are incuse on the coin. If the area in question is gray in color, then it might be split plating. The area on the vertical lines might be a die issue from polishing. I'm not seeing any evidence of a DDR on this one.

I didn't think that the incuse rule applied to class VIII doubled dies, look at the New Mexico State Quarter doubled die reverses. I have an example of these shield cents already sent of to Wexler, so well know for sure within a few weeks.

Tanman: Quote: An inflated ego? Isn't that the game of discovering new Mint errors? The "Bragging rights?" Just what do you think that is? BTW: This is all in jest, I do hope you're on to something, this being such a new area of discoveries. Just as the diagrams from Coop shows. I did take one of your pix to modify. Here's what I see: on larger image note the MD on the motto, firmly to the south. Remember, MD can be multiple directions and areas on coin. The enlarged shows to me a directional impression approximately 86 degree perpendicular in a parabola roughly the same as a cent rim.

Tanman, I wish you the best returns from Mr. Wexler, I think we'd all like to see some new DD's. I wouldn't however, send him anymore until I heard back about the first ones. I'm not seeing early die states, and am sticking to my opinion of wear on the die. I'd think if it was abrasion, there'd be more evidence of it. I think not MD, as the anomalies would be wider. Hopefully we are all wrong, and will have new Doubled Dies to look forward to. I guess you'll apprise us of the outcome.

Now I will have to go through all of my 2012 cents to find one of these once Mr Wexler gets his site updated. I am just missing two other 2012 DDO / DDRs too have them all. Maybe I will find them all. Maybe we can start a Coin World club. I have been mentioned a few times.

Still lookin, I'll be mentioned on Coin World on October 16th, 2017. John Wexler is going to talk about the 1999 P LC WDDR-051 that I submitted to him. My name will be on there because I submitted and discovered a new, unlisted DDR. :)

Me too! That's going to be exciting when John Wexler updates his website again. I'll get to see all of TanMan's Doubled Dies! I sent 2 more 2005 LC DDR's that might be also unlisted. But I'll see what John Wexler says when he emails me back. :)
