Looks like the edge was ground so it would fit inside a coin holder. Like this

Is it just me, or does anyone else see a ghost image of Lincoln's bust on the reverse? It's indented and backwards almost like it was squeezed on. A weak vise job, maybe?

It's called ghosting on the reverse. There is a more technical name for it but I can't think of what it is. Something to do with transfer. Not a clash.

PIDT, Progressive Indirect Design Transfer. Quote: Looks like the edge was ground so it would fit inside a coin holder. My impression of this type Encased Coin is they are placed in position and then the holder or charm is struck between two dies expanding up to the coins edge or just into the rim perimeter. Thanks, Doug.

Leave coins that are in the holder. They are worth more that way than after they have been removed. Putting them in the holders damage the coin. So when they are removed, you can see the damage that removes about all the value of the coin.

Dang it I was wrong. Not a die clash, but rather ghosting/PIDT as others pointed out. Thanks for setting this straight!

I agree with everyone that the coin was from a "Good Luck" holder. Better luck next time.
