Hi,

I have a good number of silver dollars that are dated 1975 and up.
Since these don't have silver content are they worth more than $1.
Also I have quite a few bicentennial Eisenhower dollars.

Thanks,
Nancy

Only if they are in high grade or if they are errors or varieties. Generally 10 cents to 30 cents above face value.

A couple of points. In 1975 they didn't make an Eisenhower dollars. The 1776-1976 dollars were made during the 1975-1976 years as Bi-Centennial dollars. (1975 Reverse was the type 1. 1976 were the Type 2, no premium for this as they were made all both years) There were some silver clad ones that year. A bit of premium for the silver clad type 1 & 2. (silver content). The circulated 1971-1978 dollars are just worth one dollar. So unless they are BU, they probably won't have a premium for them. If the coin is damaged, then just face value. Hope this helps.
Rest in Peace

A great item to give to young people who've never seen a "silver" dollar, or a good tip item. Leave one with a two dollar bill and a Kennedy half dollar.

So unless they are BU...

What does BU mean in this context?

I do not mean this as a challenging or confrontational question. I am simply curious about how different people use and define the term BU (brilliant uncirculated).

Dd27, a coin with no spots (fingerprints). Very shiny, lots of mint luster and not many bag marks.

Thanks Errers and Varietys!

One reason I ask is that I just wrote up a section on the topic for a Wikipedia article and want to make sure I am on target. (See my post here on CCF titled, Feedback requested regarding Adjectival Grades for Uncirculated Coins.)
