Hi fellow coin collectors! I've been collecting for a while now and would like to start learning a little more about mint errors and grading. Not really seeking information on price/value but more on the actual processes that created the error. So I figured I'd start by posting some coins I could use a little more information on..(forgive me if I don't use the right terminology)

I have this 1996P Roosevelt dime with on odd rim/edging. It doesn't have your typical ridging on rim. Instead it comes to an almost triangle like point. It obviously has sign of wear but any information would be appreciated :)

Thanks!

Looks like PMD to me. The whole coin has a flattened look.

to CCF. My first thought is a Dryer Coin. Possible former Encased Coin?

I agree its PMD, but it is very unusual if it is a Dryer Coin. The rim's top edge is beveled. The beveling normally seems to occur after the rim has been already battered and thickened so there is a ledge to be bent/bevelled over.

It's a Dryer Coin. PMD. No extra value. Worth 10 cents.
