I found this in a circulated roll going through a bank box of pennies. I am wondering if this is a real error or not. I hope it's real, but let's see.

Is the edge out-of-round or bulging at all there?

I'm not sure, but I do know that it's not pushed into the coin.

From your last picture, the flattened part of the rim looks closer to the letters. Also if you follow the curve on the inside of the rim, the flattened part does not continue the curve, it flattens the curve. Hope the explanation kind of makes sense.

It appears smushed. Those indentions seem side-to-side. Edge clips are usually one sided, the coin wasn't ejected correctly and was struck and flipped away.

If an error, it's a rim clip and would show on both sides. It's difficult to tell on this one because very small clips don't produce an inverted crescent on the coin. The metal flows outward and fills in the gap during striking.

I'm skeptical about this coin because there appears to be no weakness in the strike of the nearby letters caused by a lack of struck material (clipped planchet).

The rim taper is inconsistent but, I don't have too much experience with very small rim clips. It's still up in the air for me.

My final conclusion is it is PMD. I'll throw it in my coinstar pile. :)

It has the correct tapering for a small rim clip. However, it is too small to display any die flow on the adjacent devices or the Blakesley Effect.

Looks like a baby clip from what I can see. So I feel it is an incomplete planchet.
