I found this in a circulated bankroll of pennies from a bank box. This is not PMD. This is a struck through error. Man it is amazing what you can find in these bank boxes from the bank!

@e&v, I'm not doubting you, but rather trying to learn here. How do you distinguish between this strike through and a simple PMD sctrach? Is it the consistent depth, interaction with letters in the inscription, or something else? Thx!

I don't know - I see the excess material on either side of the incuse marking -

I have only found 1 myself - so little experience to go by.

I'll be watching for the expert reply's on it.

Hope it is - especially since we mostly see the "Greasers"

Spence, there a easy way to tell. Shine the coin in the light and if you see mint luster going in that area, it's a scratch. If not, it's a struck through. :)

I think it might be struck through a wire.

I'm kinda thinking that if it was a strike through it would not stop and restart around the D - it would be constant flowing with no break in the "thread".

OldClarkJoe, it is flat. It's not raised at all. I looked to see if it was a scratch and it wasn't. :)
