@e&v, I'm not doubting you, but rather trying to learn here. How do you distinguish between this strike through and a simple PMD sctrach? Is it the consistent depth, interaction with letters in the inscription, or something else? Thx!

I don't know - I see the excess material on either side of the incuse marking -  I have only found 1 myself - so little experience to go by. I'll be watching for the expert reply's on it.  Hope it is - especially since we mostly see the "Greasers"

Spence,there a easy way to tell. Shine the coin in the light and if you see mint luster going in that area, it's a scratch. If not, it's a struck through. :)

I'm kinda thinking that if it was a strike through it would not stop and restart around the D - it would be constant flowing with no break in the "thread".

E&V, is the field outside and adjacent to the incused area raised at all or is it flat? Thanks.

OldClarkJoe, it is flat. It's not raised at all. I looked to see if it was a scratch and it wasn't. :)
