Hello Coin Community,

I need some help. Does this coin look real? The seller says it's a 1943 copper penny. It doesn't stick to a magnet and it weighs 3.11 on the scale. The seller is not sure if the coin is real. Their starting price is $500. They're also not accepting any returns. Should I take the risk? Why isn't there a letter under the date as well?

Thank you so much.

Looks like a 1948 cent that was altered. The bottom of the '3' doesn't look correct"

It is fake. The date style is wrong.

I'd pass on it.

There's no mint mark because it was made in Philadelphia.

$500 is way too much to spend on a coin that the seller won't even say is genuine.
Rest in Peace

,the 3 doesn't look right . Do your self a favor and stay away from any raw 1943 cent that the seller claims to be copper .

with the others on the date style and not taking the risk. Coop's comparison shows a clear difference in the last digits.

Don't buy this from the seller. It fake and it's been altered to look like the real Copper one. This seller is full of it and he doesn't know what he's talking about. Stay away from this seller.

Oh Please - there were only supposedly like 14 of these and they go for hundreds of thousands of dollars. You can buy one at (Not Allowed) for 3.99!! Doesn't that tell you something?

Would you buy Atlantic ocean beachfront property in Colorado if someone was trying to sell it?

Oh, to sit on the mountain with the ocean at my feet. I would like 59 yards, please.

As with your other thread on the same subject, it's a big fat NO to your question.

If all the 1943 copper pennies I've found on ebay were real, I would have a hundred of them. Which doesn't seem accurate.
