A friend left me a minor coin collection. Nothing spectacular. But came across one anomaly. It's just a basic 1776-1976 Eisenhower dollar coin. But it has NO rim on it. Is that a common mistake on coins?

to the Community!

I moved your post to the appropriate forum for the proper attention.

My first guess is that it was a casino coin. Slot machine use can wear down the rim.

Can you post pictures?

to the forum, a lot of Ike's are being used in slot machines, going only by your description and without seeing your coin , it sounds like one. Please post a coin if you can, that's what is needed to better determine what it is.

If it has no rim it was probably ground off but there are other possibilities.

It could be broadstruck or an atypical example struck on a type I planchet, for example.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.
