My eyes are bloodshot after searching for a Philippine Peso that wasn't scratched. Many of these coins were crated up and hid in the salt water to avoid letting the Japanese get them during World War II.
So when you look for a circulated one, they usually have been corroded and and generally it's quite obvious they suffer from both environmental damage and harsh cleaning. If you find a high grade Peso that was not stashed in the water off of the Philippine Islands, it will cost you quite a bit. Hundreds of dollars more.
So I wanted one of these because they were minted for this country when it was a Territory United States of America between the years 1898 and 1946.
Actually, I thought this was the best looking and closest to what an original Peso should look like had it escaped the water. It may have been in the water, it might have been lightly cleaned but it is a lot better overall than hundreds of others I have looked at in the low price range.

Those are bears to find. I love adding a Philippine or Hawaii or other "kind of" USA relation when a nice one is available. You learn history that you probably wouldn't have seen if you didn't search for those oddities.

Congratulations on finding a winner

That's a real beauty! Congrats!

Can I ask you how much this was (fine if you don't want to say, of course). I've visited the Philippines quite often and got me a decent collection of Pino coins, but especially the older silver is very hard to get (the older gold even Nintendo hard), at least in the Philippines itself and also where I live: it's just not there, it seems. As it's a 'side collection' and not my main priority, I'd also like to keep costs down. So I'm also looking for a coin just like that to get one coin closer to a completed Pino type collection.

Sure ... It cost me $22.50 USD total and it arrived in better condition than my images show. But it looks close to my images.
I would estimate it is probably VF25 and definitely uncleaned, original condition. From what I saw available in circulated grades 1 in 50 might be free of salt water damage or light to harsh scratched cleaned surfaces from being of those that were stashed in the salt water in crates.
