@arkie, it is fair to use the latin (or any other language) equivalent to any of the words. We won't quibble with precision in this game. Especially since it is such a nice medal.

So 8 points puts you in the lead!

Edit: since it commemorates the Battle of Cowpens, that is another point for 9 points.

Looks like hostibus = enemy. So could that be a reference to the English?
Rest in Peace

@Crazy: only 3 points: bank was not one of the words, and it was a gun not a sword
@Arkie: So should I eliminate that point for "battle"? If we say it means enemy it implies the english but in terms of a word match I think it falls short. So 8 points.

Using an on-line latin translator, this inscription:

fucatis captis aut caesis ad cowpens hostibus

"the capture of the enemy were either killed or masked to the Cowpens"

I could post another West Point commemorative dollar, but that wouldn't be very original. Oriole, I'll let you decide whether this one counts given the circumstances of its creation.
I went to a summer camp when I was younger, and one year, one of the counselors decided to show a handful of us how to melt metal with a camp stove. He had a mold made from an original medal, so he cast a reproduction in tin for each of us. I guess 2011-2015 (as shown on the obverse) is when he planned to use it- I know for a fact that this one was cast in 2012.

A medal
Anything made of silver
Anything 38 mm or bigger (US silver dollar sized) (50.5 mm)
Anything commemorating a battle (Appomatox [sic] Court House)
150th anniversary
Years and dates:
1813
1963
November
11 or 11th

Pictures:
Horses
Troops The man on the reverse is presumably a soldier who has gone back to farming, but that may be a bit of a stretch.
Wagons A plough probably isn't close enough.
Guns
These words:
Battle
War
Crysler or Chrysler
Montreal
United States
Canada or Canadian
Britain or British
General
Colonel

Bonus 2 points: If the wording on the medal is inconsistent like on this one. It says Crysler's farm on one side and Chrysler's Field on the other.
The wording is inconsistent with the actual name of the battle (Appomatox v. Appomattox), but not from one part of the medal to another.

I'm counting 5 points, or 6-8 if troops and/or inconsistencies are counted.

@numisma, I would say 5 points. Troops is a bit of a stretch, and inconsistency I was thinking that the medal is inconsistent with itself, rather than an absolute standards.

PS:Summer camp in 2012 would put you quite a bit younger than me!

This 38mm Commemorative Medal if for The Battle of Paulus Hook, This Medal was awarded to Major Lee, for his daring pre-dawn assault at Paulus Hook in 1779, Major Lee was the a Major in the Cavalry! General Washington agreed to let Major Lee take a force of 200 men and directed that he surprise the Garrison and take prisoners and not the fort! So on August 19, 1779, Lee's forces rushed in without firing a shot and took 158 Prisoners. Pretty Darn Good!

Do I get a point due to the fact he was a commander in the Cavalry! Gotta Ask!

Upwards of six points for me depending on how liberal you are with the point-granting:

medal
"1963"
guns (a canon plus the foour bayonets behind the shield)
troops (if you'll give me 2 generals)
commemorates a battle
"battle" (as part of the word battlefield)

I have one of those pewter medals too! Are they actually worth anything, out of curiosity?

Yet-Another-Forum-Game---Numismatic-Go-Fish!

- Medal
- 38mm
- Commemorating a battle
- Horses
- Troops
- Guns
- "Hostibus" = battle
- "Americana"

Maybe other points:
- DVCI EXERCITVVM = "Commander of the army" so general?

So 8 or 9 points?
