Well time has come to end another one. It looks like the leader board has changed a little since my last update, so here we go. Drum roll please.... 1st Pepactonius- with an 1870 US Coronet Head $10 Golden Eagle- Mintage of 3990 business strikes 2nd. Finn235- with his 1901 British Honduras 50 cent coin. Mintage of 10,000 3rd. Spruett- with a 1919-1920 German Notgeld. Mintage of 10,000 2nd and 3rd tied, but Finn got his in first. Pepactonius...the torch has been passed to you. Congrats

Let's bring this game back to its original rules. US 1811 1/2 cent: The traditional pointage: +2 -- for exact country (US) +1 -- for approximate country (neighboring countries:CA, MX, RU), or countries that were once under US administration: Cuba, Philippines, Hawaii, etc.) +2 -- US 1/2 cent +1 -- Other small copper/bronze coin, like US 2 cent, 1 small cent, Canada large or small cent, UK farthing, etc. +2 1811 +1 1802-1820 (approximate date) But, these days we need some sort of gimmick, so here are some scanned-in film prints of this coin: Additional +1.5 points for submitting a film photo, with evidence. Sample evidence is the following new (digital) photo of the prints: So, the maximum points possible is 7.5. A 6.5-point submission (like a film photo of an 1810 Half Cent), could beat out an exact match with just a digital photo. In case of tie (based on points), earliest submission wins. Contest ends at 23:59 on Jan 9, 2018 (3 days from now).

Quote: I,m out Your signature says you're a "GB farthings nut" -- don't you have any farthings? These would be worth 1 to 3 points, or even up to 4.5 points with a film photo. Of course, a US Half Cent is most likely to win this round, with 4 to 7.5 points.

So, U.S. Large Cents don't count for one point as a close denomination, only small cents?

I suppose these would be included in the "etc.", along with UK half pennies, and all sorts of foreign copper. Something like the 1797 Cartwheel 2 pence or those large Russian 5 kopek coins would be out, though.

Quote: 1806 Half Cent +5 points -- as the first 5-point submission, this could well be the winner, unless we see an 1811 Half Cent (scarce date) or a film photo later on.

There is no 1811 farthing 1807 then to 1821 so a very large gap before they started minting again. Re film -I do not have a film camera and to develop it here would be to expensive. Crazy but I used to have the biggest collection of Asahi Pentax cameras in the Southern Hemisphere and my name is the Pentax book.

Ok neat idea @pepactonius! Here is my 1811 Half Cent (S-287). I no longer have a film-based camera so I don't think that I can claim more than 6 points for an exact match of the coin.

Hm... it looks like the most points I can get this round is three by using a coin from the United States. And seeing how my oldest coin from that country is not at all close to 1820, I will go with this one:

Quote: Sample evidence is the following new (digital) photo of the prints: This means either he prints his own or has them processed at a digital photo processor. You don't necessarily need a film camera for this. Okay, The only photo paper I have is 4x6 inch...but I can't seem to get the whole coin to print clearly onto it. What's the secret to printing onto this size paper? The photo's actually look better when printed on regular 8.5x11 printer paper
