Very nice coin. It is an 1858-O Seated Liberty half dollar that appears to be in about XF40-45. Value would be around $120-$140.  (P.S: when dealing with old coins, always try to hold them by the rim, not by the face of the coin.)

Sorry for the loss of your Grandmother. She left you a nice memory to cherish. Very nice coin irrespective if it has been cleaned or not. Do not try to make it look better with any additional cleaning. It needs to be stored properly in a safe coin flip or in a hard plastic coin holder until it can be TPG'd!

Very nice old coin ... lovely momento from your grandmother. Lightly circulated to the XF state ... and yes cleaned at some point but that should not detract from the sentimental value to you. As a numismatic item this is a 'common date' Seated Liberty half ... in fact the 3rd highest original mintage in the series at 7,294,400. So not rare by any means .... and IMHO not worthy of any third party authentication ... despite today's seemingly endless rush to TPG everything. Enjoy the gift from a loved one for what it is ... outstanding USA coinage history from a famous mint passed down through the family. David

Extra Fine, Details, Harshly Cleaned. I've seen a LOT worse and this is still highly collectible.

XF45 market acceptable. Nice coin.

I think its strong enough to make AU50 details. cleaned. I wouldnt call it harshly cleaned though
