Those were some great half-cents!

Here is my Large Cent with the smallest mintage. It is a 1793 Wreath Cent (S-8) with 63,353 pieces made:

I have a 1795 with a lower mintage of 538,500 but the 1803 looks a lot better.

Also, Mercury dimes should be 1916-1945, not 1916-1935, and the line for Sep 16 probably isn't supposed to say Sep 12 on it.
Also, the Franklin halves start in 1948, not 1932.
(I almost said that Walking Liberty halves ended in 1945, but apparently no, that really was 1947; I must have confused them with the Mercury dimes.)

Really, go and check the dates against our Coin Facts page. There's a lot of incorrect dates in there (some of which I might have missed, not being at all familiar with the respective series; in particular, I'm pretty sure that the silver 3 cent coins were still made after 1862).

Anyway, back to our regularly scheduled programming...

49-Days-Of-Low-Mintage-US-And-World-Coins

...an example of one of my favorite coin types, the Petite Head large cent (a subtype of Braided Hair).

This particular one is dated 1841, and has a recorded mintage of 1,597,367 - which happens to be the third lowest mintage in the entire Braided Hair series (after 1857 and, just barely, 1855).

(I have two other large cents in my collection; one is dateless, and the range of its possible dates has many with higher mintages, while the other is from the 1850s, and I honestly forgot what the date on it was, having not seen it in several years... don't think it was 1855 or 1857, however.)

january1may, Thank you.
I reported the post you made and asked it be directed to jbuck so that he could fix these errors I made.
Nice coin!

Spence, had to take a second look at your flowing hair there with the strawberry leaf! Nice. I see there's a sticker over some of it. Thought it was a clipped coin at first.
I was wondering what was going on there.

Yes sorry about that. It is only since joining CCF that I have taking pics of my US coins in earnest. In order to keep some low level of provenance on my coins, I have some notes on a sticker that I put on the slabs (or 2x2s). You can see a smidge of a number on the sticker. Overall, my photography skills are very poor with the slabs, so having a tiny bit of the rim covered seemed to be the least of my problems.

Would an 1845 be considered low mintage?

I think if it is your lowest mintage that you have, yes. This isn't a dead serious thread obviously.
We aren't getting a lot of participation so post what you like I suppose. I was hoping for more members but we can have fun in here regardless. Just have fun. Great submissions so far. Thanks

I bet things will pick up as we get further along into other coins. I can make my first ugly duckling post in an hour!

I actually had somebody mention the "duck" recently on the back of a US coin I showed them. I forget which series but it was an eagle of course. Obviously not a coin collector. LOL
Great picture of your FE! :-)

Sadly, I don't have any FEC, and was unable to post my Large Cent. All the coins look great everybody!
