I just picked this one up.What would you grade? Grading practice is always good.

Looks to be a dandy. From what I can see, no reason to not go MS-63.

Great condition, it looks off center, would they give a lower grade for that? The details look MS-63 though.

I am going to say MS 64FH. NGiles, the off-center you're referring to is the NGC holder, I believe.

By the way, someone should re-route this to the practice grading forum.

Great coin, enjoy.

I'd like to see a larger photo with sharper detail, but based on these shots I think there is a bit of rub at the top of Liberty's head, the drapery over the shield, and the eagle's breast. That suggests high AU grade to me. The head detail looks very nice and it appears to meet criteria for FH status.

A very nice 90% full head strike but it appears (might be just glare from the photo) to have some wear on the shield that would make it an AU58....at least in my collection it would be at that grade.

Darn, you let the cat out of the bag after only
a day. So I got to see the grade.
Made me feel pretty good though, I was going with
63+ to 64 FH...

I almost went with the AU-58 arguement, but after
closer inspection, the "wear points" seem more
like glare from a light or flash. I would like to
have seen a bigger pic. However, I am finding out
first hand how hard it is to get a good, large
image of a coin!

ratio411,
Yep,sorry patience is not one of my virtues. The slab has some rub marks on it.Of course right in front of the head naturally. The smaller the coin the harded it is for me to get exellent pics. But I do pretty good with Morgans.
