after carrying this coin around with me for about a year I figured I would snap a few pictures of it to see what you all think she may grade out now (I know we don't get many circulated Morgans in here)

Hi Bryan,

Well, it's not a very circulated coin (yet!). It looks like you've done a good job of not putting keys and other metal objects in the same pocket, since there are few bagmarks and no new, shiny scratches. Is that some damage on Liberty's nose and in front of her mouth, or just surface stain? Are you perhaps trying to wear down the stain by keeping the coin in your pocket?

Based on the photos and descriptions in the PCGS coin grading guide, this should grade EF-45 or possibly AU-50. The 1883-S is a slightly better date, worth more than bullion in this grade. I'll trade you for a nice, cleaned 1921-S Morgan if you would rather wear down a common date!

Do you have a photo of what she looked like prior to becoming your pocket piece?

Bryan ... thanks for posting some silver here! It's been all copper lately. Your piece looks EF45. Is that the true color? If so, I like it!

Definitely a strong EF. I image that it was a dull gray when you started? the dark red/brown tone gives it character and hides the marks

it was a lightly cleaned AU coin when I started and was pretty much white then also. That is the true color of the coin and there isn't any marks in front of the nose. I had some pictures on my pc of the coin before it started but my hard drive crashed and I no longer have it

Why are you storing an AU 1883 Morgan in your pocket? -PP

XF-45
Definately no higher.
There is too much wear to call it any sort of AU.

Nice looking coin though.
The chocolate color surely looks better than "scour"
white of a cleaned coin.
