I just received the 10-oz coin "A Mari Usque Ad Mare: The Diamond Jubilee of the Confederation of Canada Medal" from a major dealer. Immediately I noticed stains on the coin: The coin is otherwise excellent. This is a silver coin, without color or gold plating. So I guess the stains are from the production. Perhaps the coin wasn't throughly rinsed at Mint. Should I rinse the coin myself? Should I return it?

Call the Mint and ask for return. Verify, that they do have a replacement. This will be the best, imo

Since the OP bought from a dealer he needs to contact that seller. Not the Mint.
Get either a replacement or a refund.

Seeing you bought it from a major dealer then either call or Email and state your problem and would like a replacement. Usually major dealers are pretty good about this type of problem. DON'T touch the coin yourself as that may void any chance of you returning it.

Thank you all for the info. I will ask the dealer for a replacement if possible.

Call the dealer immediately and they will send you a return label. If it is who I think it is that you bought it from, they are really great at customer service if you are not happy. For that kind of money, the coin should be perfect.

@New1954
Thank you for the tip!
If you look at my post history, this will be the third time I return a coin with C C&C (and I just started in May). Sometimes I question why this happened in the first place.

Do you watch The Shopping Channel coin show? CC&C and TSC are owned by someone who handles coins with his bare hands live on the air, and even drops them occasionally. What does he do with those coins? CC&C has good customer service, and will replace the coin.

Perhaps you purchased one of the coins that Bromberg handles with his fingers on TSC ?

Since you coin spent a fair amount on this coin, ask them directly if they use a prop on the show or an actual coin from production

Wouldn't using a prop be a misrepresentation of the actual product being sold? I'm betting they are real coins. And I would assume they do end up in someone's collection.

Here is the replacement I got. One of the plastic case's three supporting legs is broken. As a result, the coin isn't lying evenly inside the case. I can't imagine how much scratches would occur on the coin during the transportation. This replacement was promised by the sympathetic CC & C representative as being "personally selected" and being "quality checked to ensure it was in Mint condition". I don't know what to say or what to do next. I'm a bit depressed right now.
