You guys beat up my NGC MS63 Isabella pretty well, but what about this raw Isabella? Wasn't planning on getting another one (like I don't plan on getting a raw Hawaii), but this was another stupid cheap coin.

What say you?

I won't say anything if it was stupid cheap.

Sorry you got beat up on your 63. Pictures can be a poor reflection of reality.

AU-53, evil cleaning, as are almost all of these that are still raw.

May I ask what you call "stupid Cheap" for that. I am trying to gauge my purchase, and hopefully flip of the same coin. I thought I got mine cheap as well...

The more expensive the type of CSC, the fewer collectors for the type raw. For a 65, this typically sells in the $1200-1500 range, but it has to be gorgeous to rate the high end.

The 64, which is far more common, snags about half of that in the $550-650 range.

The 63 is the minimum grade for many collectors and if you are patient $350-400 is possible.

When we details or raw with details, which this is an example of, it's possible to get one near $200-250, but, like this one, the details are fairly in-your-face.

I'm obviously way behind on suggesting my 'opinions' for you ... mostly because you are way ahead of me with recent posts of coins.

To this Isabella ... AU-Details harshly cleaned.

Politely suggest that you evaluate your goals for the raw set ... if problem coins such as this fit the bill then good for you. Each of us decides our own collecting objectives.

My objectives are two-fold. For the slabbed set, I'm trying for 63 and up, except for the ones that will be financially out of reach in those grades (Hawaiian, Spanish Trail, Miss 2x4, Grant *, and Lafayette). I could do one or two of them in that grade range, but I'll be happy with 55+ for those.

The raw set I have much lower goals for. Cleaned is fine, heavily circulated is ok, and I'll be good with just about anything other then graffiti. I don't mind details for the raw.

The reason I'm doing 2 sets is because it's just working out that way. As an example, I bought the Isabella MS63 for a very good price, and then a couple of weeks later, this cleaned raw Isabella comes along for stupid cheap (a little over half of the least expensive sold listing Isabella on ebay right now). I won't buy a raw coin for more then a similar example has sold on ebay for, and I usually get them for about half of what similar example sell for (I buy very little on ebay). I also do like to be able to hold a coin in my hand, not a slab as much. And, when it isn't t=in the fancy plastic, my wife figures it couldn't have been very expensive (LOL).
