I needed a raw California, and stumbled on this one. With much hesitation, I went for it, and paid more then I normally would for a raw, but I fell in love with the toning.

Two sets of images, as different lighting lights up the toning differently.

Grade and opinions welcomed. (I'll probably send this off to ANACS, and then I'll have to buy another raw.)

The first obverse picture, when enlarged, shows plenty of hairlines. May have been cleaned then retoned. The only question would be details cleaned or is it an old & light enough cleaning to be market acceptable?

Looks like 2 different coins, one is over expose that blown out the surface detail and the other set of pictures show more details. The question I have is which set of pictures show the truer color of the actual coin?

As of now I can't make out what grade it will bring, could be AU-58 to MS 65!

The color in hand is closer to the over-exposed set. It's decently colorful. I used a ringlight for those images, which has a tendency to blow out highlights. The first set shows the details more realistically, and an angled light was used for that. When I have a coin that looks different depending upon the angle of light, I take two sets to show all aspects of the coin. I totally understand what you're saying.

Maybe a partial fingerprint on upper left obverse. Very nice example!

Tough to say for sure if AU-slider or MS. Nice looking example either way.
