I have had this coin floating around for about 40 years. I would like to finally get the story on it and it's worth. Thank you in advance ( :

it is not a coin, but a Jeton. It would have been used for counting/ games. I do not have catalogues to identify the type or value.
As I understand, most of those were made in Nuremburg, and the legends are just nonsense words.

earlier jetons were nonsense, by the late sixteenth century they had decent legends and eventually the Town Council of Nuremburg made the full name of the masters obligatory. Yours is from Nuremberg. The obverse legend is HANNS.LAVFER.IN.NVRN.- Hanns Lauffer of Nuremberg. Hanns Lauffer was the master 1611, died 1632. Reverse: HEIT.ROT.MORGEN.DOT.-Red today, dead tomorrow

@jazz475, first welcome to CCF. Second, we do see these with some frequency here. If you use the search terms NUREMBERG JETON or NUREMBERG TOKEN in the upper left hand corner of your screen you will find several relevant threads. Finally, other sources of info on these pieces include this website: http://www.ukdfd.co.uk/pages/nuremberg-jetons.html

Coopertron, thanks for the clarification. Quote: Red today, dead tomorrow I like that quote. A universal truth.

Nice, Coopertron. I just wanted to add a little to the legend translation in case OP is wondering. It's from Nuremberg but, the German spelling is Nürnberg. That's why it reads "NVRN". "Heit Rot, Morgen Dot" would today be written "Heute Rot, Morgen Tot" in Modern German. I gotta use those years of German study for something! If I can remember anything anymore...
