Die cracks, die chips, dings, other cruds and other common random errors will command only the premium you can get for them. They sell on
ebay now, I believe only as a new "fad", once that passes, the values (if any)will deflate rapidly. These coin anomalies happen all the time, and have since coins were first made. Take for instance the
Shield nickel series. Because of the design, metal hardness and alloy mix, die cracks are quite common on all coins. They have NO premium value but are useful in the attribution of other errors such as overdates, repunched dates and doubled died, all of which are hubbing errors from the
making of the die while cracks are from
usingthe die.
Are they collectable? To some folks yes. As a point of interest only, not value. Overall, there are few references for each and every crack/chip out there, too many to cataalogue but some sites like cudsoncoins has a reference of some.
