Looks like it was struck through some scrap. Perhaps cardboard. There may have been several coins struck like this if it stuck to the die, or just one if it stuck to the coin. Finding that piece on the coin would be more valuable it it was still on the coin. I found a struck through years ago that was struck through fiber on the coin. It was still on the coin:

Awesome find Coop. Reminds me of some of my early pics with dog hair, but I much prefer yours.

That is the first time I figured out what it was that was altering coins. We referred to them as struck through thread, but it appear more like plastic fiber. Another mystery solved.

It does, but no so apparent on my coin. Why is that?

On your coin it was something like a piece of flat cardboard that was rolled a bit on the edges, or frayed. It was still small. When we look through a scope, even a needle looks huge.
