What Is This Plating Issue (Sand Dune Affect) On 1987 D Penny

Calling this the sand dune affect because it looks like a sand dunes... lol but a few things to look at, notice how it looks like "L I I B I E R T Y" yes with three I's and notice how the 7 seems to be connected with the 8. It's it pretty nice shape other than the plating issue. Also looks below Lincoln, it looks like two rims. (I know it's not two rims)

As dies wear the metal actually flow outward(from the pounding). The devices will stretch and become wider, especially with more polishings. an attrition ring forms around the edge like seen here. The letters are actually closer to the edge of the die which has been shaved (ground)down because it too has expanded.

Haha see that's why I asked cause I thought it was a plating issue. Glad I asked. I'm keeping it because it's in very nice condition. Not one thing wrong with it. Looks like it was just made today lol
