This is about as gem as they come... How do they get out of the RCM? Also how do you find them? That is one nice clip.

BIG question. Unless the pix is distorted that is a man-made clip. Pardon my attempt at cutout photography but it had looked odd to me so I tried. It is non-concentric, (not circular for some folks) and I don't see the correct pressure edging of a stamped cut planchet.

That's a beauty! Quote: ...the larger the clip, the more likely it is to distort when it is struck. Yes, there is no guarantee during striking that the clip's arc will remain unchanged. It's like the 1960 Roosevelt dime I posted a while back (and recently sold) with about a 12% clip. The arc was distorted but, all of the signs of a genuine clip were present.

Quote: BIG question. Unless the pix is distorted that is a man-made clip. Crazyb0, it most certainly is genuine... The upset mill (rimming phase) will distort any large clip. Of course, you can get large undistorted clips when you get strikes on incomplete clipped planchets that then separated during the strike, then you have other criteria to examine to verify it's validity. If this sort of thing interests you, then I suggest joining CONECA: https://www.thespruce.com/coin-coll...coins-768755I have written several articles on Canadian errors for Errorscope, CONECA's journal, and always appreciate the questions!!

Quote: Also how do you find them? Given my reputation in the Canadian error community, errors like these tend to find me...

McShilling, it was probably from a mint bag of cents, where errors wouldn't have been noticed.
