Please pardon the iPhone photo, but the photo is not the point. I actually posted a better photo of both sides of this coin a few days ago, asked the forum if it was a decent selection, and upon getting a mostly affirmative answer, bought it. It looks at least as good as I expected, and the price was not great but decent. I was eager to add this, because it was the last coin in a project I sort of fell into--see what you think about it. About a year ago, I started buying some inexpensive MS65 and 66's, RD mostly, from the 40's and 50's, just because I thought the search for really nice looking ones was fun. Well, one thing led to another, and I decided I would see how hard it would be to complete a set of one uncirculated coin for each year of the 1909-1958 series. Given my limited budget, obviously as the coins got older and the dates got rarer, the searches took longer and the coins turned browner, for the most part. (I think the oldest RD is 1925.) Several coins were elusive--1912, 1914, and 1922D (in fact, most of the 20's), and 1931 and 1932 proved particularly vexing to get at a decent price. Well, anyway, I don't know if this is even a recognized type of collection, but the 1913 pictured is the final coin in the set, so I thought I would mention it here. It was fun to get to the end of the road. (Footnote: all but three are PCGS or NGC. I'm trying to decide whether to fix that, or leave "my" coins in those slots just for fun.) Thanks for "listening" to my story.

Serious congratulations. That is an especially daunting task to stay in that grade range, even for 1 per year collection.

Congrats on this date set. I like the '13 as much as when you first showed it. That '14 is sharp as a razor.

Nice idea - some of the earlier wheats are expensive to get in MS condition.

First of all, congrats! Quote: I don't know if this is even a recognized type of collection Let me put this clear: a collection is how you define it. Nothing else. Please note that even Whitman just makes up stuff, there's no 'official' UN-guided mission which defines guides for how a collection should be defined or look. We in Yurop don't even have Whitman folders, so we have to make up everything ourselves with standard albums and 2x2s and honestly, I like to do so. It gives a lot of freedom and sparks a lot of creativity. So, the collection you describe is a very nice collection and you sure can be proud of it!

Growing up, we always used the term "date set" for collecting one of each year. My friends and I often collected Walkers and SLQs this way. I still have a date set of Indian cents.
