Coins themselves in such low grades can't be worth more than melt. Looks like another rip-off deal aimed at naïve buyers.

Quote: .this is a danbury mint product. EWW! The wooden case is probably worth more than the Franklins. Danbury is all fluff - no stuff!

Quote: I am asking now what could someone expect it to sell for ..? Right, I think that @coinfrog pretty much nailed when he said the value couldn't be much more than melt. To get more, you'd have to find someone who is interested in these sorts of "investments", but willing to buy it from you rather than the original source. Maybe someone else here has another idea?

Looks neat and it must be worth more than melt. I usually say "buy the coin not the holder" when referring to TPG's but it works with this also. I like it. John1

What are your intentions (keep or resell)?
Does the drawer lock?

Heck, if you like it, keep it a while. Maybe begin upgrading with MS examples.

I like the presentation of the box. If that was mine, I'd attempt to slowly upgrade the coins. That case with lots of UNC coins would look great on display.

Sorry, this defines the expression "pig in a poke". There's nowhere to start here except over.

If one searches US half dollars on ebay with the word "complete" a boatload of complete sets appear including one which looks familiar (and frankly rather optimistic.)

I do like the presentation of it. I think slowly upgrading the coins is a good idea.

Quote: I do like the presentation of it. I think slowly upgrading the coins is a good idea. This is how I feel. It is a nice looking case. Assuming it is a solid piece, it might be fun to make this a proper set. Get your melt value for the coins and start to rebuild.
