Not sure why I do these GTG's, since very few come to this subfirum, but rules are rules, and I think folks are losing out on learning about these....

Anyway, this is my latest addition to my Old Silver Commemorative set.

What grade do you give it?

At first glance the obverse looks like a nice AU, but closer inspection shows that it's actually a slightly lesser strike. Big open fields, especially on reverse show no breaks in the luster, so ill stay MInt State 64.

A beauty. This was one of hardest finds for my set. Because of the spectacular luster available on 1/4 of the examples (yours qualifies), it took me up to #42 to find the right one.

This is number 40 for me. Now it's all the wallet killers (except the Bay Bridge and Columbian). May take me a while.
Rest in Peace

I'll say MS65. I see a lot of chatter on the slab but only a couple of contact marks that catch the eye on the coin itself. Another beauty!

To me, small marks on the reverse collectively hold this to 64. Still most attractive.

Beef

That is a heck of a nice coin! What about "Battle of Antietam" coin? That would be a perfect match. One battle was the largest and one the bloodiest. No coins of Confederate victories like Bull Run etc. I guess the victor gets the coins. You know I had a Confederate cousin who lived until 1937 and my great, great grandfather served the Confederacy for the whole war and lived until 1930. That war still touches us.

I haven't found the right Antietam yet. Passed on one at the show over the weekend, but it is one of the few of the series I have yet to get.
