Not exactly sure what this is, but I would sure like to see someone duplicate this and show me pictures of your duplication, and please tell me how you did it. I really want to make another one of these, but the thing is, I can find a thing on what this is, how it's done, or anything remotely close to this. Found this last year and no one can give me a straight answer.. nor can anyone show me they grave duplicated this. You will make me very happy if you do duplicate this, I want to make this on a Nevada State Quarter, because it's my favorite quarter, and I think this would look pretty cool on the reverse design of the Nevada State Quarter. Thanks for looking!

You could probably duplicate it yourself with a bit of copper colored paint and some transparent blue. It just looks like some not-so-pretty toning or environmental damage.

Looks like Artificial toning done intentionally .Why would you want to duplicate an AT Clad Quarter . Most members would say this has no eye appeal ,but if that's what puts Ink in your Pen ,then go for it .
Rest in Peace

Less politely, I think it's ugly.

You probably won't (i hope) get much instruction here on how to damage a coin. Which is all that is.

If you like it, buy it. If it's gone, wait a bit. The seller will brew up another one.

Sorry if you think it looks ugly but that's not what I was asking. I like it and that's all that matters to me. Why I want to duplicate this is written in the text above if people here know how to read.. lol and I already knew it was artificial toning, that's why I asked for one of you guys to duplicate it. I want to make something like this and wanted to know how it was done, simply because I think it looks cool. But whatever it's all good. I know why you think it's ugly, probably cause it's not premium toning. If it were premium toning you guys would be going crazy. Lol...

You might check ebay. They might already be selling what you are look for. Or you could ask someone who is posting more than one of these artificially toned examples and could do it for you?

With all due respect the answers and the opinions were given, and it seems no one was interested enough to make one or try to make one just to make you happy! sorry if that was not good enough.

The whole idea of trying to artificially tone a coin for effect is offensive and completely contrary to the best interests of this hobby.

If you like it Coppergold, that's all that matters. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I see some attractiveness in your coin, but natural toning is more desirable. Maybe someone can tell us how to tell the natural toning from the artificial.

The cents I heard were toned by dipping the coin in soapy water and held over a candle to dry the coin. It was enough to roll of 1955-S cents one at a time. (Probably the coin was held by a tool you pick boiled eggs up with or metal salad tongs.

@coppergold, toning on coins (whether natural or artificial) isn't really my bag, but you have a question about duplicating this surface treatment and that is kinda interesting to me. Any possibility of you posting a really good close up of Washington's hair? Ideally a shot with both the brown and blue highlights? I'm wondering if there is something that has been painted on the surface of the coin as opposed to oxidation of the metal itself.
