If real and original a mid AU piece. 3rd party authenticity is needed as this is the key date to the series and is highly counterfeited by adding a D mintmark to a regular 1911 $2.5 piece.

Looks genuine and XF45 to AU50 to me. TPG is a must for a coin like this.

Just enough signs of handling and contact to get me to AU58, and a very attractive AU at that.
The arrowhead marker appears to be present (although that's not foolproof)
However, I think the D should be more open, although maybe that's just the photos, because this seems to be in between the gap between strong and weak D reverses...but that's just me Fake MM's on this coin tend to be of the moved-metal type and not the popup or cut and paste.
If it's genuine, and it probably is, this is a $3500-$4500 coin and deserves PCGS, NGC, or ANACS authentication.

Wear on leading wing tip suggests 55.

The "shininess" of the images (which could be from lighting) suggest a light cleaning/polishing. Otherwise it looks like a genuine AU+ piece.

Thanks all! I'v included a close up of the D but decided to not take it carefully out of the holder again. I will get it TPGed. I will go to the forum page that talks about TPGs to learn more. Thanks again for all your help!

Looking at the coin a little more with the closeup pics, I think it may have been in a jewelry beazle at one time.
Regardless, it is a nice coin even if it net grades.
Good luck!

the mint mark looks a little off. it should be at the slight angle you are seeing here. it appears to have a slight tilt and as stated the gap in the D does not match large and small D. needs looked at by the pro's
