As I have been religiously checking my recent ANACS submission (20 coins), the order staus changed to "Consultant" yesterday. I had no idea what it meant, so I called. I was told it could be one of the coins was sent out to for review. She said could be for a VAM, which is possible, as I sent in a couple of Morgans, but could it be something else? Has anyone else had their order status changed to consultant, and what did it mean? There is 2% of me panicking that something could be of questionable authenticity (although I'm pretty sure that's not it).

VAM or variety . Every Lot I send to ANACS has the same thing happen . Nothing to worry yourself about.

ANACS' Director of Attribution, John Roberts, is among the four or five top Morgan experts in the world, responsible for (insert large number of which I'm unaware here) of VAM discoveries. He writes Coin World's monthly article about VAMs. There's nobody to "send a Morgan out to" who's better than him. I cannot imagine a Morgan being the cause of this status unless there's something very special about one of them and John wanted a second opinion. With Pacificoin's statement in mind, perhaps that's just the term they assign to the actual attribution process, but John Roberts doesn't need help attributing.

It would help e knew what you submitted and whether or not you requested any variety or error attribution.

Nice thing about ANACS , you can actually pick up the telephone and talk to a real and friendly human. They have excellent customer service. As an aside the grading lately has been very consistent and conservative. Refreshing!

True, but their history is too checkered for them to ever rate on par with the big two, and I think deservedly so.

ANACS gets their underdog status and prices accordingly, which in turn only reinforces their lower-tier rating.

ANACS is ok in general, but when you get a top pop coin in an ANACS holder, don't expect it to cross.

Absolutely disagree that they won't cross. Recently sold a Rare Seated Half That the new owner has had UPGRADED By NGC. Also have three cross graded Canadian that all came back the same from ICCS.

He was referring to top pop coins and more specifically modern top pop coins where a large majority certainly will not cross as the majority had already been tried before selling

What's the checkered history and deserved lower level of trust?

Reading comprehension malfunction .....where in my post does it say CROSSOVER ? He had the coin UPGRADED . WHICH MEANS he cracked it and resubbed it.
