Nice looking penny wondering if it was a proof coin?coins has lumps where its says one cent at. Just was wondering what do you call coins with lumps on words,or number?

Not a proof. The lumps might be die chips,hard to tell by the pic.

Not a proof, all proofs are S mints. Those bumps are zinc rot. Your pix actually captured it well although a bit blurry. Note the disturbed area surrounding the "bump" under date. There's a growing colony is rot under there. It seems same w/ NE lump also, if its a bump, otherwise is an old "milkspot" from the crappy mint rinse.

You're not even getting "the finger" on that one!

That's the DDR BTW!

@jelly, I agree with the others that your coin is a regular business strike. I think that you should be able to tell zinc rot from a die chip by pressing with a toothpick. The zinc rot bubbles should be mostly hollow and powdery. This a good coin for learning.

1968-S Proof was the first proof coins from San Francisco. There was a 1999-P SBA dollar that was a proof coin. Pre-1964 proof coins were from Philadelphia.
