We found this 1955 Canadian penny in a storage unit a few years ago and just recently started looking at a few of them. This one is as found and was labelled NSS. We never took it out of the package so hopefully not too hard to see. We wondered if there was something on it that would give it a little more value.

It might refer to "no shoulder strap" - an old name for the "no shoulder fold" variety. If it really is a NSF as attributed, it's worth quite a bit.

Can you take a clearer picture of the obverse?

The "I"s are only subtly flared,on your coin.On a no shoulder fold coin the"I"s are quite flared. As well the I in DEI on an nsf coin will point directly at the center of the space between two denticles, this is not happening on your coin.

Thankyou for your replies. Do I need a clearer photo then out of the package? Or is it obvious to you that it is not NSS.

I trust DBM's judgment. Here's a comparison of SF and NSF, if you'd like to see it for yourself.
