If they need the space, they can feel free to send me a few truckloads, and I'll take care of getting them into circulation...

If you spend them they will just end up where they came from! I think it's asinine that legislators have a say on what coins to mint and how much must be minted. The US Mint needs more authority.

I will gladly take them. Provided they can get them to me.

The system has worked fine, with the notable exception of Dollars, since the country was founded. It's part and parcel of the country's monetary policy, which ought to be under Congressional control.

The only way to use dollar coins is to quit making dollar bills.
But the production of billions of cents makes even less sense.

Quote: I wonder what the numbers are now after the prez dollars ended? Probably not much more, maybe even less. Shortly after that article they stopped striking them for circulation, and there is a slow but steady draw down of about 6 million coins a month. So once they stopped making them for circulation and the banks could no longer order boxes of each new President they probably stopped flowing back to the Fed and now there is just that 6 million coin draw down. (The six million mostly go to large cities that use them in their rapid transit systems.) At that rate they will have to start making them for circulation again in about 15 to 20 years.

The coolest thing about these prez dollars is that you can take 30-40 of them and turn them into a Morgan dollar.

It's funny how those lawmakers' opinions changed after they returned to the private sector. I read an interesting book on this the other day. It's called Two Dollars One Wallet. You should look it up.
