This arrived in the mail yesterday, how would you grade it? I plan to give it an acetone treatment following the helpful instructions from those on this forum once I get the materials.

Looks about vf30. Hopefully that reverse staining comes off with acetone. Nice looking coin.

I'll go EF-40 but that dark area could make this a details coin.

VF-35 seems possible, maybe even EF. The rim hits are a distraction and overall the coin has below-average eye appeal IMO.
I don't see any obvious indications of a counterfeit coin but authentication for almost any Seated dollar is important. Hopefully this one is genuine and you will be happy with it.

Technical grade 35. I see nothing to be concerned about as far as authenticity. I'm really not a fan of this coin, I'm sorry to say. Too many little problems.

XF40. Reverse has better sharpness than the obverse, but staining. Rim has been chewed on a bit. I wouldn't acetone it, personally, since you might lose some of the toning and make that stain stand out even more than it already does. NGC or PCGS might be able to conserve it.

I agree with Paralyse. If you can get the coin to tone more, the stain will serve as a pedigree and won't stand out as much. I would take some copy paper, fold it over the coin and staple it shut. Put it on a windowsill or a in a high cabinet in your kitchen and forget about it for a year.

Also I don't think the stains are dark enough to trigger a details designation. Your biggest problem is the rim dings. But I also do not think they are prevalent enough to detail the coin. SLD's enjoy a lot of leeway with the tpgs.

VF35/XF40. I tend to lean toward obverse on split grades

VF-35 with those rim bumps. Hopefully the black spot on the reverse will come off with a gentile acetone bath.
