Would be cool but these are not trails. Proof characteristics are not my strongest point but these apear to be die flow lines which give the appearance of radiating from the center of the coin.

It's in a slab so I'll have to figure it out in a few hours. I don't know much about proofs either but I have another 87 proof and it doesn't have any of those markings on. I thought the proof cameos weren't supposed to have anything like that on the coin.

A proof die will be polished during its working life to remove damage from striking coins. Flow lines should be possible. Will look through some in a bit

I've seen that scarlet colored thread a few times On proof coins. It might be in the packing process or storage. But seeing that on your coin reminded me of seeing that before.

Instead of trails, I feel it is part of the etching surface of the cameo that is moving with continued use of the die. (transfer to rim direction)

Coop , It's the packing the mint used. Here it is with one of my favorite Ikes that is unlisted doubled and tripled die obverse . The Masterdie doubling is only supposed to be on the date.

Thanks for all the responses guys. The area above the 1 just kinda jumped out at me then saw the rest. I'll have to keep all your info in mind while looking through these proofs
