@cldague, I agree with @chase007 that this isn't a lamination error. I especially recommend you look at @coop's response in this thread showing a similar '81 D:

Nice "jail bird" that's what we called them in the sixties when I was a kid. We didn't know about minting coins back then and the planchet errors were something we found quite often so we named them. 45 RPM (circular lathe grooves), tree bark, jail bird, two by four ( wood grain), you get the idea. BTW I know 45RPM is my name for a die error and not a planchet error but I still love that one!
