Bret - Thanks for the feedback. I received the set, and it looks great. I'm in no way a grader, but I am pretty picky when I look at coins. Especially ones I'm interested in buying...lol. With this said, I am well pleased!

Outside of getting a few key dates on the gold eagles, I'm left wondering what's next. In time, I'd like to have a 1995 W Silver Proof. That is unless I come to my senses and look at it as only a 1 oz proof with a W on it... ;)

Being this discussion is based on Eagles, Is it true the 2017 Satin finish 1 ounce Eagle from West Point, is the same as the 2017 Uncirculated Eagle, or is it just another name for the proof? Thanking You all in Advance................

There is a proof ASE with a W or S mintmark, a bullion ASE with no mintmark and a Burnished ASE (USUALLY a W mintmark)

Some dealers (and ANACS) refer to the burnished W as having a satin finish. HSN refers to both the W and bullion as having a satin finish.

Here's a great HSN ad for a "satin finish" silver eagle

W mintmark in the pic but "no mintmark" in the description

https://www.hsn.com/products/2017-s...agle/8487029

For ANACS satin = burnished

Does anyone else realize the mint released an Uncirculated 2017-W 1 ounce gold eagle. Mintage of 8066!! Some call it the satin finish, some the burnished finish, others the specimen proof!!! The lowest minted eagle known to date? It was not and still is not listed on their product schedule either...... You could see Mike on the HSN channel selling the slabbed SP-70 for a tad under 3800.00................ Slipped by me and I am sure many others too, FWM, Thank You for all your help.

Short answer - Yes. Mint product 17EH last year. This year, 18EH is scheduled for release this summer.

If you're interested, here's a CoinNews article on the 2017 release. 2017 did set a new low mintage for these issues, but the mintages have been on a generally downward trend ever since the Mint began issuing the coin back in 2006.

Not sure why 17EH mintage figures aren't currently showing up in the Mint's production reports. They did in the Mint's weekly production reports up through the 11/5/2017 report with a last reported mintage of 5800. Where did you get the 8066 mintage number from?

The coin I am talking about is the 2017-W " Uncirculated " finished coin. I called the mint Today and was told the # as of 12-30-2017 was 8066. I also checked the production and sales figures on their own site to get the mintages of most anything they sell, that number is 8,066 too. I am told by a Very reputable source, besides the customer service rep I spoke with Today, that the 2017 Eagle was listed on their product schedule for 2017, from June through November- However, I never saw it and that was My frustration, I did NOT see that listing for any uncirculated gold eagle. I further researched this topic and am seeing that all secondary venues are selling this ( Anacs ) SP-70 " specimen proof " coin. All others use either the term of satin finish or burnished finish, also selling from $2180.00 to and including $4200.00 for an OGP'D coin to the SP-70 coin.......... I am surprised I did not hear more about this posted release from many other Numismatists or sites like this, Maybe here there was discussions, Maybe I simply missed it too.. ..... PS, I just rechecked the mintages tally and NOW including 1-1-2018 the total to that date is8108, That number is for the Proof!! I can not see the mintage for the Uncirculated version, I do believe I made another mistake and that 8066 number is probably for the proof.....The mints own site shows no results for the 17EH

Fox, The mintages numbers I have, according to Your mintage numbers, I must have the proof #'s. This release is the lowest to date, Your numbers show I am again mistaken and the mint does not show results for the 17EH.... Thank You Again for being Sharp, My Friend.......Either way, this coin is a home run!!!!! IMO

It IS a home run for now.

It has always been included in the production reports with the last one being November 5th.
This coin actually went "currently unavailable" around October 15th with only a few released the following week.
There was not much interest or discussion of this product until after it went unavailable.

I received the 2017-W BU gold Eagle Today, stunning coin. Other then the gouge on the reverse. I am not thrilled with the customer service response at APMEX. "I will refer your call to Our returns dept, they should send You an email in 2-3 days, anything else I can help You with..." Saddened with the return or exchange procedure, I am new ordering there, I only hope and pray, I receive another Eagle and it looks fresh off the Mint's press....... PS, Keep an eye open for the mint's product schedule and THIS will not happen to You also....... I see they advertise here, which I saw and trusted they will deliver, I am disappointed that they sent this out at all.....

If you bought from APMEX through ebay you are protected. If you used PayPal you have another protection. By definition, yes, the W is a bullion coin BUT sold as a collector product....like the ATB pucks having bullion AND collector editions. If you had bought a raw 2017 bullion eagle from them there would be no returns as it is just an ounce of gold.

APMEX is basically a bullion dealer and got into collector coins to get more sales volume. I have had zero issues with them but only have purchase bullion products. If buying collector coins from them I would just buy a graded specimen if the price was right
