Just wondering if collectors still having problems in the Mid west and Western states still having problems getting 2017 P Cents? Actually I still see rolls at a premium on ebay.

Greetings BadToTheBone, I live in California and out of the several boxes of cents that I have search I personally have found only two 2017 P's. Funny, I was wondering if they were found more in the mid-west to the east cost because they are far and few between found out here as far as I know. It would be interesting to hear from some west coast members to how their luck is.

even though I'm in Ohio I've found more 2017-D cents than the Philly ones.

I never see the 'D' mints here in Ohio until they've been around the block a few times / years.

I think they must have dumped all of them in North Carolina for distribution. I could go to the banks around here and get hundreds of rolls I have no doubt!

My last 5 boxes before these 2 boxes have been nothing but 2017 P cents now these two boxes are 2017 P uncirculated with 4 or 5 older cents in each roll which is crazy because that's 250 cents a box that aren't 2017 P yet I found 4 wheats in each box. But I live in West Central georgia

Haven't seen them very often on this side of VA in my change. Stopped visiting the banks to see if they had rolls....just bought 'em online.

Quote: But I live in West Central georgia That, to me, indicates that the"P's" are much more prominent to the east and south east. Of course, we must take into consideration that, unless I've missed something, 2017 is the first year that the Philadelphia mint has put their mint mark on the cent/penny. That is, IMHO, why us folk out here in the west are only seeing "D's". Give it 2, 5, even 10 years down the road and they will be as abundant out here as well unless, of course, they produce low numbers of them which I doubt.

New York is flooded with 2017-P cents . I'm assuming so is the rest of the east coast .

I have yet to get a D in change (not unexpected), but the P are plentiful here in SC.

This has become a rather interesting topic! Now, more than ever, It really makes me want to know why those of you near the east coast rarely see the D's and us west coast folk rarely see the P's. I would think that they would be distributed more evenly through out the entire U.S. Does anybody know how the mint allocates where the go? Or is it that the banks on the west coast just don't order as much? Maybe supply and demand

My guess? Coins from the other mint are distributed when people travel and today people who travel cross country prefer the safety and security of plastic. Again, just my guess.
