CoinTrackers has it listed at a bare minimum of .50. Similar ones with VF20-25 are going for $60-$80 online.

If you find a 1939 P with the 1938 reverse, you'll find it's worth more (about 10X more per grade). However, your 1939 P has the correct RDV for the date (also known as the 1940 reverse). Additionally, had your specimen been the DDR, then in that grade you could expect $75. Decent grade for a circulation find, but if you CRH, you'll find many over time.

I have 4 rolls of 1939's VG-AU and I can hardly get $6 a roll for them. Not sure where you're getting these figures. Cointrackers is the most unreliable site when it comes to getting values, quite frankly we despise of them.

To ( reluctantly ) quote Cointrackers on the 1939 Jefferson they wrote this. Quote: Numismatic Value: 50 cents to $880.00 Value: As a rough estimate of this coins value you can assume this coin in average condition will be valued at somewhere around 50 cents, while one in certified mint state (MS+) condition could bring as much as $880 at auction. You might have clicked on a 1939 D instead.

Quote: You might have clicked on a 1939 D instead. True, but even a 1939 D wouldn't yield 60-80 in VF, yet alone any Jefferson nickel. Unless it was a 1939 DDR, which this is not.

Well...thanks for the plethora of information. I didn't know that those figures were that far off. Can you name a valuable site that you get values from?

I bet Coinhuntingdrew will gladly sell you 39's for .35 (A DEAL!) to you real quick! Gonna bite?...yea, didn't think so. Value figures are ALWAYS arbitrary, even the sold prices have bilked millions of Mr. Bucks for the unwitted, er unknowledgable buyers on ebay.
