Hello all, I am interested to see what you think is the most beautiful coin type is. This can be any type of coin (U.S., World, Ancient, Medieval, etc.) I can not wait to see the responses!

Conder101, I agree. Which is why I would like to know what everyone thinks is the most aesthetically coin is to them.

I agree with Coconutjoe for U.S. coins: (not my coin)  Non-U.S. is tougher. I'll have to think about it more.

I am a huge fan of US Admin of the Philippines coinage!
Beautiful is their simplicity.

US Shield and V nickelsMorgan and Peace dollarsSLQ WLH ASEAlthough I own no gold, I also find the Liberty and St. G. double eagle to be most attractive Foreign 1960 crown 1847 crown Victoria jubilee bust half crowns Early George V half crowns (Can you tell where my main interest in foreign coinage lies?) 1967 Canadian dollar...its beauty is in its simplicity.

I agree with SLQ and Philippines.
[Edit] Above is my opinion for the design. However I believe the most beautiful example of a single coin would have to be from the 19th century original skin as the 20th century coins just don't tone the same way.

That is a tough question. I personally find many different coins to be stunningly beautiful for numerous reasons. Of that list to pick my top one: a Peace dollar. Something about that coin strongly resonates with me every time I see one.

I am going to agree with a good number of others and say that the Walking Liberty half is the most beautiful U.S. coin, not only because of top-notch execution of design but also the symbolism. I think the winner for commemoratives would no doubt be the Dolly Madison.
