I have seen 2 other coins of the same year with exactly the same featureless face - but I can't find any info, can anyone tell me more about the coin, and what sort of error this is, its grade and worth. Thank you.

Could be a weak strike but looks more like a deliberately worn coin.

I dont think that could be correct because there is one for sale now on ebay with the same year and exactly the same weak strike and I have seen another one with the same year and same weak strike elsewhere
Cheers

If you actually have this coin, check to see if weight, diameter etc are all correct. It may be countefeit.

Deliberately smudging coin details removes the need for C/feiters to make the coin look kosher.

Your top photo has a number of odd looking lines through the face and body of the aborigine. Did you take you picture through plastic?

It looks like it has been sanded down and then circulated. You can also see scratches.

Hi dart2d2 and

It's always helpful to include photos showing both sides of a coin.
