Another nice find! @OJC, I would find it interesting to understand what percentage of wheat cents you are finding these laminations. It seems like a ton to me just looking at your recent threads, but maybe you are looking through thousands and thousands of them to find the couple dozen examples that you have posted?

Thanks Mrzllewellyn, trying to get them while I can.

Spence, I had about 2K each of the 40's and 50's, so I've gone through a lot of them.

That's an interesting one and a unique shape. It reminds me of a failed attempt to fill a pothole.

Another interesting example. Though shape of may suggest something different. Contemplating LAM or struck through a piece of scrap material. Thanks, Doug.
Rest in Peace

To me it looks like a struck through debris issue. Note I doesn't run in a straight line. It is peeling from the surface which tells that it was not part of the original surface of the planchette. The weight should be a little bit over, but only a real accurate scale would show this. The area in question is now pressed inwards because of the strike. It appears that the debris was folded over before the strike. So I feel it is not a lamination issue.
