Quote: Recycling counter stamp..... Interesting to see this on a Lincoln Cent. Appears to me the mark of failure... Reduce? Nope, they still mint too many of them. Reuse? Nope, they are minted, sent to the Fed, to the banks, to the stores, to the people, to the trash. Recycle? Nope, they zinc rot long before we get the chance!

Interesting. I grew up outside of Erie. Very much missing the 172+ inches of snow per winter. Yes, I am serious about missing it!
Funny part was growing up I thought everyone in the north had winter like we did. I guess b/c you always see snowy houses etc. on Christmas cards.
Two things I remember is when our mayor came up with the idea of shipping parking lot snow down to Florida in RR boxes so the city had room to plow the parking lots it came out of.
Another is that we used to get nightly news comparisons to Juneau Alaska. Typically they were close.
Ever go to sleep at night, wake up with a couple new feet of snow in the ground and still go to school? Yup that's why they had the Deuce and a Half Army trucks fitted with snow plows for. Now they have huge beasts with a front and a side mounted blade to the side blade puts it up and over the already plowed mounds by the roads. Good memories!
Thanks for posting!

Thanks for sharing Earle. I'm in the Chicago area so no stranger to snow but nothing like Erie. Wowsers! I can't imagine. Isn't the modern snow moving equipment just incredible?

Chicago - found out one day why it's called the windy city...and it was winter, so I learned! Actually the Lake's high pressure system right offshore protects Erie from the amount of snowfall the outlying areas get. When Erie gets a foot, the outlying areas get 1-2 more feet ~30 miles south of Erie. Its also generally 10-15 degrees colder than in Erie proper. Those outlying areas are more like Buffalo city proper for snowfall. I was in those outlying areas. A couple of times while still in the Erie area I actually had friends visiting on days the thermometer said -10 and lower. I would tell them to bundle up and I was going to show them a local attraction. I took them out to the lakeshore and got them to go to the waters edge with me. With that very high wet wind hitting them in the face at minus 10, I told them they now understood why I very rarely get cold.

Time for a weird one. How did they get LIBERTY and a 195X date stamped onto it? I just don't get it. Any ideas out there as to what's going on here? Might make more sense if I flip it 180°? EDIT: Could they be Astrology symbols?
