WDDO-001 best of variety according to Brian's Nickel Variety website. Let me know what you think.

Looks like it to me!

What is the grade, if you don't mind?

I also got a very similar present for myself that I will post later.

What is doubled? I'm seeing a VLDS coin.
FS-101

. I was wondering, no doubling of 42 which is key pickup point of the 001 along with facial 2x in a NW direction. What is seen to me is a Southerly MD central shift. All the details are mimicked, eye, lid, outlines. Whoever attributed this and coffinized it goofed big time. Return it.

It certainly looks like a match to the -001:

It does look like a match to WDDR-001. Just a different die than the FS- 001, 002 DDO dies.

Updated picture to show grade and TPG attribution.

1942-P-WDDO-001-Nickel

I agree the date doubling is not easily apparent from the pictures. I can see it under 30x at just the right angle. According to NGC variety guide, this attribution is known to be heavily polished, must have been 'reworked' by press operator instead of replacing right away.
