Very nice! Hopefully you have an Air-Tite to put it in. A standard 2x2 won't be enough to preserve it. If it is what it is, it's the first time I've seen a retained rim burr on the forums.

Thank you spruett001! I am pretty sure that's what it is, but a second opinion by an expert would be needed to make sure. You were in for a treat seeing this post. Eyeballing candy is what I call this. Since I unfortunatly didn't have Air-Tite holders, I put it in very carefully in a non PVC 2x2 flip case without the piece breaking away and hopefully it will be enough to perserve it. I also wonder what Coop or Mike Diamond will think of this coin. I hope someone will save this picture and do a demonstration on it since it's the first time I've seen something like this. BU out of a roll.

That is an oddity. I might suggest a gem capsule that is thicker and insure the base is firmly on place.

Thank you John1 and moxking. It is indeed a very strange error coin and I got it out of a BU roll from a OBW roll of 2015 LSC. John1, if I had Acetone on hand, I would have given it a dip, but at this point, I don't want to mess with it because the piece could easily break off. I managed to get it in successfully in a non PVC coin flip without the piece breaking away.

To me it looks like a piece of copper plating foil, that was struck through onto thr rim of the coin. The copper planchette was plated, then the foil from another coin was struck on your coin. We don't see gray zinc color where it peeled off the coin. So I feel it was added to the coin. Leave it intact. You don't want it to fall off the coin.

Thank you Coop for that good information! That's very exciting Coop what you described to me! Also thank you OldJoeClark! Merry Christmas to all of you! Sorry if it took awhile to respond. I was opening gifts with my family. Does anyone have an idea of my coins value?

Halo1st, it is one of the most interesting errors I've found on a modern coin. It came out of the roll like this and I saw the piece still attached to the rim. Coop thinks it was Struck Through a piece of Copper plating foil which makes a lot of sense so far. Please update me on this post if you find out or what you think it is. :)

Probably not a premium for this. More of an educational piece than anything.

How come Coop? Trying to learn still. Is it a common error? I still think it's very cool though. I kept it and carefully placed it in a non PVC coin flip. Thank you for your taking your time on telling me what it was.

Probably not a large demand for this. A lot of things people find interesting, in the long run, later they determine in not a premium coin. A coin is really worth what some one will pay for it. Otherwise, worth what it says on the reverse of the coin.

Thank you Coop for explaining this to me. Now I understand. It's a great educational piece still. Since it's BU condition from the roll, it's a keeper for me. Still worth a little more than a cent because of its high MS BU condition.
