*** Edited by Staff to Add Year / Mintmark / Denomination to Title. Titles are Important! ***

Just wondering if this defect is minting error or human wear & tear? I apologize for pics it's just best I can do with what I've got... the area in question has circular shape to it almost as if it's a misplaced D mint mark... not saying that's what I think it is but it's the best way I can describe what I can see up close under my little 5x mag, since I can't quite capture it in my posted pics... I purposely posted some pics from different angles to get better perspective... the reverse side is very clean with awesome toning... just something to consider when looking for human error/damage, thanks!

Looks like a split plating issue. (weight should be 2.5 grams for a Zincoln)
Rest in Peace

with Coop.

As far as the "No MM" The Philadelphia mint did not put its mint mark on the cent until 2017. And I'm unsure if it will be on the 2018's.

You should include the date, mintmark, and the denomination in your titles.

Why Topic Titles are Important

The title of your topic is very important. Let's say you need help attributing an 1896 Morgan Dollar....

  • Horrendous: Help!

  • Bad: Need help with coin

  • Better: Need help with Morgan Dollar

  • Good: Need help with 1896 Morgan Dollar

  • Awesome: Need help with VAM on 1896 Morgan Dollar

This enables the members with expertise pertaining to your question to easily find and answer your question. The title of the topic also becomes the title of the topic's web page, which enables us to attract more collectors to the site. The more members we have, the more we learn.

Just corrosion or what some call zinc rot. Not an error.
