scmoore61,

Congratulations on your photography! This one looks VF-25. All the letters are readable on the shield, but there is a bit too much wear on the high points of the design to bump it to XF.

Thanks, I've finally figured out how to set the white balance.

Now, this one is definitely a mixup! The 1854 Half Dime has a "olive wreath" reverse. The reverse shown is the "cereal wreath" design that started in 1860. Also, the obverse doesn't look like a Half Dime anyway. Based on the proportions of Miss Liberty I'm guessing this is actually an 1854 quarter.

I wonder what coins we are really looking at? Scmoore61, can you clarify?

VF and I'm with Prethen that it looks cleaned or dipped.
