I found this coin shortly after they were put into circulation. I noticed the y in Kentucky was missing and some other letters were faded. I just noticed the crack next to the eye. Wondering what y'all can tell me about it. I'm a novice coin collector. Thanks!

Can you get some clear close-ups of the areas in question?
Rest in Peace

The fading letters are probably from a grease-filled die.

I can't tell about the crack on Washinton's head. All I see on the photo is a line of glare and a shadow. Maybe someone else has better eyes and can help with that.

Is that line a dent or a raised line?

Does the line go into the coin or come out of it? The faded lettering looks like it was Struck Through Grease. Similar to the 2005 Kansas "In God We Rust" quarter.

The crack in question is behind the eye and the hairline. Looking at the crack with a mag glass, it might be a deep mark from the edge of a coin. Upon further review, prob not a crack. Thanks everyone.

@Herbicide74, first welcome to CCF. Second, in addition to the grease on the rev, I agree that it looks like Washington's temple has sustained some damage. A clearer close-up would help to confirm this though.

It is incuse, so it was probably damaged somewhere along the way.

Much better pictures.
it's damaged.
The incuse damaged part displaced some of the metal, resulting in the raised damage part. If it were a Die Crack, there would be no incuse part.

Reminds me of one of those crinkled reinforced staples they used to use back in the save everything on paper era.
