ron - Here's the reverse of the N5A note. Like yours, not as good as the obverse.

It's real fine, Coinfrog, not a mark and as white as could be.
That's an interesting account of the $1 eagles and the 1917 x-backs. I've noticed many low s/ns on the $1 1923 x-backs. In fact, it's to the point where anything over 2 digits on that series is commonplace.
I've never tracked the bills like you have but I probably will be now- esp since now I have a vested interest. I did a search not long ago of $2 battleships from auction archives. Found many low and interesting s/ns but only one in single digits. (I actually offered to buy a couple from the owners at a premium but they wouldn't sell.)

I like those buddy dollars, Wheatback. How did you come to acquire both?

Stever - Super, I remember this note, and seem to recall you have many, many more.

All of these notes are excellent -- keep 'em coming. Great idea for a thread!

ron - Indeed, double digit and even single digit notes from the $1 1923 SC series are almost common, I suppose not surprisingly (total print runs for all the Black Eagle $1 SC series were around 3.7 million over a 25 year period, compared to a jaw-dropping 2.6 billion for the 1923 series in less than 7 years).

No, you're not seeing double. Same denomination, same district, same serial number, same suffix letter, both are in PCGS 65 PPQ holders.........different series

Talk about deja vu! That's amazing. Not to mention the other #12, besides! That's great. It has to be so hard finding the same s/ns, nevermind the same letters, too. Here's a ready-made pair I just saw. They're actually at auction right now on GC (I have no affiliation with the sale). Pretty cool-looking stuff but I'm tapped out.

That's a great-looking bill, Coinfrog. I love the double X! I hadn't seen many eagles with low or fancy s/ns being offered. Only two I saw in months I wound up getting.

Shoot, CelticKnot. For $100k, I need to figure out where the Fed first puts its dollars in circulation. Then, I have to go shop there.
