I know you've all see it, but since this is a low s/n thread, I suppose I should haul this out again:

Coinfrog, how could we ever grow tired of laying eyes upon that beauty?

Guess this can be considered low, but I still consider low serials on nationals to be single digits.

That's low enough for me! Another note from your fine collection of Virginia nationals. Looks like someone was in a hurry with that cutting blade!

Hey, Wheatback. So, you have the s/n in the lower left on that $10. Do you know what the other number, upper right is? Looks like a second s/n.

BTW, Wheatback, I looked up your bill in Track & Price and, for that bank, you have the lowest s/n! And, it's not even close. The next lowest National is an 1882 $10 with a number of 760.

Lower left is the bank serial number and the upper right is the treasury serial number.

Right. The use of the Treasury s/n was discontinued in the fall of 1925, after which the Bank s/n appeared in both positions.

Thanks for the info on the s/ns, Wheatback and Coinfrog. Now, you've given me something else to look for on the pre-1925 Nationals. Wonder why I never noticed it before. I looked at the pics of the ones I already have and, sure, same thing, 2 different numbers. I guess since those numbers are so long I never even looked at them.
