So this is in a PCGS rattler. I am thinking about sending to CAC or maybe even trying to upgrade. It currently resides in my type set but I may upgrade and sell this. I would like to maximize my profits. I'll post the grade in 48 hours but wanted some opinions first.

I see what looks like luster breaks on liberty's left breast, left hand, thigh and leg. I don't think this is an ms coin. I'd guess 58 but take it with a grain of salt. I suck at grading these. Let's hear what others have to say.

The reverse looks MS, but can't tell if there is a rub on obverse. Photo is little too fuzzy.
If there is a rub on the leg portion, then agree with 58.
If no rub, then 64.

Good pics, but not good enough to critically examine the rub in the leg area.
So far, this coin gets the benefit of the doubt, and I will say that there is no wear in this area, because I can't definitely find wear anywhere else on the coin. Could be just a weaker strike in this area. If it were examined with a +10X loupe in this area, looking for mint luster, and it is found, there cannot be any wear. These pics not good enough to say so for sure.
If no wear, with fields reasonably clean, MS64.
Potentially a big swing in value; the question needs resolution.

I would take a stab at 64 as well, but would like to see sharper pics also.

Well - since you are considering sending it back for a possible upgrade I would think that it might have graded lower than 64. For my eye I would go with a 63 grade - even though the reverse looks better.

I like to read these threads all the time as I learn about the mindset of how TPGs assign grades. You guys must be good teachers and I must be getting a handle on this system b/c I thought exactly what everyone else here is posting - especially about the areas of wear.
So I will be brave and post my first official offer as a grade: AU58 if that is wear. MS64 if not.

No breaks in luster or luster roll, no hint of circulation rub. This coin suffers from typical weak strike that gives the illusion of rub on the high points.
It's a 64, at best. Closer obverse shots might drop that another point.
Most certainly not worth CAC or upgrade.

An advantage that a TPGrader has, that we don't: The raw coin is held in hand, and examined with a 10X loupe.
A coin can be held at various angles in incident light, and examined for luster at the high points of the design.

MS64 and leave it where it is. Even if it's severely ungraded it's not worth the cost to re-submit or even CAC for that matter.

How about some clear obverse pics please. Otherwise I'd say MS-64. Nice coin for sure.

64. marks on face and neck. eagle weakly struck at legs.
